Lusaka, Zambia24 – (19-09-2025) - The Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has delivered a scathing response to the Patriotic Front (PF), warning the former ruling party to resolve its internal chaos without dragging MMD into it.

MMD National Spokesperson Brendel M. Phillip said PF’s factional wars are the direct result of the same tactics it once used to destabilize other parties, particularly the MMD.

“The turmoil in PF is not surprising. It is simply chickens coming home to roost,” Phillip charged. “When a party thrives on deceit and crookedness, it inevitably destroys itself.”

He recalled how PF engineered a rebellion in the MMD by sponsoring a “fake convention,” creating parallel structures, and using state institutions to recognize an illegitimate faction.

“They manufactured strange bodies such as so-called ‘founding fathers,’ just like the PF Elders Council today. All of it was designed to tear MMD apart and hand control to imposters. Now, the same blueprint they used against us has turned against them,” Phillip said.

He singled out Raphael Nakachinda as a tool PF once weaponized against MMD.

“No party benefited more from Nakachinda than PF. They used him to weaken us, and today they want to dump him back on us. We refuse to accept him.”

Phillip insisted PF must confront its own failures.

“We are not part of PF’s mess,” he said. “They must clean their house and face the monster they created. It is dishonest to involve MMD in their downfall.”

He warned that PF’s wrangles deepen public disillusionment with politics and erode democracy.

“Zambians expect political parties to act with maturity and discipline,” Phillip said. “Instead, PF continues to showcase greed and indiscipline, which is dangerous for the country’s democracy.”

He concluded by challenging PF leaders to use the crisis as a moment of reckoning.

“If they have any regard for the people, PF must stop the blame game, reflect, and rediscover its mission. The MMD will not be used as a dustbin for PF’s failed experiments.”
