TAUZ Reign Supreme

Lusaka, August 17, 2025 – Students from Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) were crowned champions at the Zambia National Medical Quiz held yesterday at the University of Zambia Ridgeway Campus, in a competition that tested medical knowledge, teamwork, and quick thinking.

The quiz, organized by the National Medical Quiz in partnership with 1 Day Africa, attracted top medical students from some of the country’s leading institutions, including Cavendish University, University of Zambia (UNZA), Levy Mwanawasa Medical University, Apex University, Mulungushi University, and Eden University.
Over several challenging rounds, TAUZ students consistently outperformed their peers to secure the coveted first-place title.
Dr. Paul Chibwe, President of the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) and Guest of Honour at the event, commended all participating universities for nurturing the next generation of medical professionals.
He encouraged students to continue pursuing excellence in healthcare, emphasizing that such competitions help build critical skills for their future careers.
Congratulating the winning team, TAUZ Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ajay Poddar, described the victory as a reflection of the university’s commitment to academic excellence and practical learning.

“This outstanding achievement by our students is a proud moment for the entire TAUZ community. It reflects not only their hard work and determination but also the quality of training and mentorship they receive at Texila American University Zambia. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the team for flying the TAUZ flag high,” Prof. Poddar said.
The Zambia National Medical Quiz continues to serve as a platform for sharpening medical knowledge, encouraging collaboration among institutions, and inspiring students to pursue excellence in healthcare.
Organizers say the annual event is also intended to foster camaraderie among students, build confidence, and prepare them for the challenges of medical practice in Zambia and beyond.
