Lusaka, Zambia, 24 - (24-08-2025) - The United Party for National Development (UPND) Presidential Mobilization Team National Coordinator, Bishop Burden Mufungwe, has lauded President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration for delivering tangible development across Zambia and urged citizens to give him full support ahead of the 2026 elections.

Speaking before hundreds of cheering UPND supporters at Longacres Lodge on Saturday, Bishop Mufungwe handed over more than 180 defectors from the Patriotic Front (PF) and Socialist Party (SP) to Kanyama constituency.

“We are reporting to you, our employers, through the works all around you!” he declared, highlighting the Free Education policy, Cash for Work program, Constituency Development Fund (CDF), and Social Cash Transfer scheme as evidence of the government’s transformative efforts.

“These are not mere promises; they are real results benefiting Zambians across the country,” he said, emphasizing that peace and stability must be preserved at all costs.

In a fiery address, Bishop Mufungwe criticized the opposition PF, likening them to “Ing’ombe, lazy cows sitting idly while pretending to plan a comeback.”

He warned Zambians not to be deceived, insisting the PF had squandered its chance by failing the nation.

“Are Zambians asleep that they cannot see what government has done? PF is finished! They are just bamambala (crooks), drunk on Kachasu, hallucinating about returning to power while playing with the devil at night,” he charged, prompting roars of laughter and chants of “Forward UPND, Kwenyu!”

He further called for the PF’s deregistration, branding it a “spoiled relic of failed leadership,” and urged citizens to actively spread the gospel of UPND’s achievements, particularly free education and empowerment initiatives that are transforming lives daily.

Among the defectors, Aliat Mukuka, speaking on behalf of the group, described their decision to leave PF and SP as a bold move.

“We were lost but now found. I personally benefit from the Cash for Work program, and my children are in school under the Free Education policy,” she said, electrifying the crowd.

Bishop Mufungwe likened their decision to a football team changing lanes to score goals for the people, unlike long-suffering Arsenal fans loyal despite barren seasons.

He urged the defectors to actively participate in party programs and strengthen UPND structures at the grassroots level. Turning to opposition alliances, he joked, “They can form alliances from here to the moon, we don’t care. What matters is Zambians are with UPND.”

Bishop Mufungwe also called on Zambians to give President Hichilema a 100% vote in the 2026 elections, stressing that continuity in leadership is crucial for sustaining development.

“President Hichilema has demonstrated that he puts the people first. From building roads to funding schools and supporting vulnerable households, his leadership delivers real results,” he said.

He warned that voting for opposition parties could undo the gains made so far. “If the same people who failed Zambia are allowed back into office, the nation will lose the progress we have worked so hard to achieve,” Bishop Mufungwe said.
