FISP Rollout Underway

Lusaka, August 23, 2025 – The Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed that the redemption of farming inputs under the 2025/2026 Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) will officially commence on Monday, August 25.
Principal Public Relations Officer Balewa Zyuulu explained that the Ministry, in partnership with all three mobile network operators, has introduced an electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) system to verify beneficiaries.
Farmers must use mobile numbers registered under their National Registration Cards (NRCs) and linked mobile money wallets.
“The eKYC system ensures that only eligible farmers benefit from the programme. It accelerates verification and payments while facilitating agricultural insurance processing,” Zyuulu said.
“This digital approach is part of the Government’s broader goal to modernize financial services in agriculture.”
The Ministry also announced that a K400 contribution will be deducted from the proceeds of maize and paddy rice sales to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) for farmers who have sold at least 10 bags of 50kg white maize or seven bags of 40kg paddy rice but have not yet received payment.
Farmers who have already been paid in full will receive Authority to Deposit (ATD) notifications to deposit the K400 into FISP-authorized accounts. Newly registered farmers will also be required to deposit K400 upon receipt of their ATDs.
“This system of deductions and deposits ensures a smooth start to the FISP redemption process while minimizing additional costs for farmers,” Zyuulu added.
Beneficiaries are strongly advised to use the inputs on their own fields and not to sell seeds or fertilizer. E-vouchers must be redeemed strictly for farming inputs and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Farmers or agro-dealers found violating these rules will be deregistered and barred from participating in any government programmes.
“The Government remains committed to ensuring that FISP continues to reach the intended beneficiaries, strengthens national food and nutrition security, and supports the broader objectives of the agricultural sector,” Zyuulu emphasized.
Farmers and agro-dealers are encouraged to comply fully with programme guidelines to guarantee timely access to inputs and contribute to a successful 2025/2026 farming season.
