LUSAKA, 16 July 2025 — The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has launched the inaugural Invest Zambia International Conference (IZIC 2025) with a powerful call to global investors to take advantage of Zambia’s political stability and strong economic fundamentals.
Speaking at the opening in Lusaka, ZDA Director General Albert Halwampa described the conference as a turning point in the country’s investment drive, aligning with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision for economic transformation.
“Zambia is open for business. Our peace, stable governance, and investor-friendly policies make us one of the most attractive destinations in Africa,” Halwampa said.
He announced that the event has attracted over 500 foreign and 1,000 local investors, all seeking to explore opportunities and forge strategic partnerships across key sectors such as agriculture, energy, mining, tourism, and manufacturing.
Halwampa emphasized that IZIC is more than just a summit — it’s a long-term platform to scale up investment, create jobs, and drive inclusive development.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jin reaffirmed China’s commitment to Zambia, citing the country’s strategic geographic location and growing reputation as a safe investment hub.
“In 2024, Chinese companies invested $3.6 million, representing 52% of Zambia’s total foreign direct investment (FDI),” he said, praising Zambia’s reform-oriented leadership.
The three-day conference is expected to yield investment agreements, business deals, and a renewed international focus on Zambia as a rising economic player in the region.
