Lusaka, Zambia24 – (24-10-2024) - Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) Executive Director, Maurice K. Nyambe, has urged for more decisive action in combating corruption.
In a statement released today, Nyambe expressed concern over the country's anti-corruption efforts, stating that corruption remains a significant obstacle to Zambia’s development.
Nyambe emphasized the need for stronger political will, increased transparency, and more effective enforcement of anti-corruption measures.
"It is crucial that institutions are strengthened and those involved in corruption are held accountable," he stated, urging Zambians to actively report and resist corrupt practices.
This call comes amidst ongoing public outcry following several high-profile corruption cases.
Nyambe warned that without substantial reforms, Zambia’s developmental goals could be compromised, and urged law enforcement to investigate and prosecute corruption cases without political interference.
Nyambe reaffirmed TIZ's commitment to working with stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability, calling on citizens, civil society, and the media to unite in the fight against corruption.
