Lusaka, Zambia24 --- (16-06-2026) --Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Vice President Leonard Hikaumba has joined the United Party for National Development (UPND) campaign trail in Mwembeshi West Constituency, pledging support for President and parliamentary candidate ahead of the August 13 elections.

Mr. Hikaumba joined UPND Deputy Secretary General Gilbert Liswaniso during the official campaign launch in the constituency, where he engaged with residents and party supporters in a mobilisation drive aimed at strengthening grassroots support.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Hikaumba urged voters to rally behind both President Hichilema and Mr. Milambo, saying continued leadership under the UPND would guarantee sustained development and improved service delivery.

He said Mwembeshi West residents should not only back the presidential candidate but also ensure they elect Mr. Milambo as their Member of Parliament to strengthen representation and accelerate development in the area.

“Let us vote for President Hakainde Hichilema and Austin Milambo so that development continues reaching our communities. The progress we are seeing must be protected and advanced,” Mr. Hikaumba said.

He added that the UPND administration had demonstrated commitment to economic recovery and social development, urging voters to consolidate those gains through continued support.

Mr. Hikaumba further pledged to actively campaign alongside Mr. Milambo, saying he would help mobilise support across the constituency to ensure victory for the UPND ticket.

He called for unity among party structures and supporters, stressing that effective mobilisation at grassroots level would be key to securing electoral success.

Meanwhile, Mr. Liswaniso encouraged residents to turn out in large numbers on election day and vote for both President Hichilema and Mr. Milambo, describing them as leaders focused on delivering development and prosperity.

The campaign launch marks the beginning of intensified mobilisation efforts by the UPND and its allies in Mwembeshi West as the party seeks to consolidate support ahead of the general elections.
