Lusaka, Zambia24  --(18-05-2026) -- The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency and the Zambia Tennis Association have pledged continued support for tennis development in Zambia.

According to a joint statement signed by Brian Hatyoka and Joe Siame, the partnership aims to grow the sport, raise its profile, and inspire young players across the country.

The commitment follows the successful hosting of the ZCSA 2nd National Tennis Championships at Ndola Tennis Club, held from May 14 to 17, 2026.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, ZCSA Director of Finance Brian Malangisha said the Agency would continue supporting tennis as part of its broader contribution to national development.

He said the sponsorship is intended to create opportunities for young players and strengthen sport as a tool for youth empowerment.

Mr. Malangisha also urged members of the public, including athletes, to buy products and beverages from trusted and reputable sources to protect their health.

He added that ZCSA is strengthening market surveillance, border monitoring, inspections, and enforcement to ensure only safe products reach consumers.

ZTA President Lighton Musonda thanked ZCSA for its continued support, saying the partnership is helping to grow tennis and improve opportunities for players.

He said tournaments such as the national championships are important for improving player rankings and preparing athletes for international competitions.

“Our national teams are currently preparing for the upcoming Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup competitions, and tournaments like this one play a critical role in that preparation,” Mr. Musonda said.

He added that such events help players gain experience, confidence, and exposure at a higher competitive level.

Edgar “Gaza” Kazembe of the Zambia Correctional Service defended his title, winning the men’s singles category.

In other results, Isabel Chisongo won the ladies’ singles title. Robert Chileshe and Edgar Kazembe won the men’s doubles, while Isabel Chisongo and Christabel Chisongo claimed the ladies’ doubles title.
