Lusaka, Zambia24  -  (16-02-2026) - The Zambia Diaspora Chamber of Commerce (ZDCC) has praised President Hakainde Hichilema for promoting diaspora engagement in national development and formally invited government officials, investors, and key stakeholders to participate in IBEx Hybrid 2026 in Canada.

ZDCC President Freud Musanu said the invitation builds on the success of IBEx 2025, held in Lusaka, which brought together government officials, private sector leaders, diaspora representatives, and international investors.

He said IBEx 2025 concluded with a signed communiqué detailing policy recommendations and investment reforms designed to mobilise up to US$1 billion in business investments, contingent on implementation milestones and the removal of operational bottlenecks.

Musanu added that the Lusaka meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and representatives from key ministries and regulatory bodies, reflecting strong government support for diaspora-led investment initiatives.

He also confirmed that the Chamber is ready to formally submit the communiqué to the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President to guide implementation.

He highlighted the administration’s focus on economic diplomacy and investor confidence, stressing that stable and affordable electricity remains essential for industrial growth, mining expansion, agro-processing, manufacturing, and digital transformation.

Musanu said IBEx 2026 will expand the platform to North America under a hybrid format, connecting diaspora capital markets, Canadian institutional investors, development partners, and Zambian public and private sector representatives.

He added that the 2026 programme will feature investment pitch sessions, government-to-investor roundtables, and sector-focused discussions on energy, mining, agriculture, fintech, infrastructure, and manufacturing, as well as mechanisms to track implementation of commitments made during IBEx 2025.

He noted that sponsorship opportunities will be limited to ensure focused, high-level participation, with official dates and venue details to be announced through ZDCC’s formal channels.

Musanu concluded that Zambia is at a critical economic stage and that structured diaspora engagement, coupled with clear policies and institutional collaboration, can drive sustainable large-scale investment.
