Lusaka, Zambia24 (October 6, 2025) – The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has intensified border monitoring, market inspections, and factory audits to ensure that Zambians have access only to safe and compliant products.

Brian Hatyoka, Manager – Communications and Public Relations at ZCSA, emphasized that these measures are crucial for safeguarding public health, improving product quality, and assisting manufacturers in meeting regulatory standards.

“Through enhanced enforcement and public awareness campaigns, ZCSA is protecting consumers while enabling businesses to expand into domestic and international markets,” Hatyoka said.

ZCSA Director of Corporate Services, Maikisa Ilukena, has urged companies to work closely with the Agency from the early stages of production.

"This proactive approach ensures compliance with compulsory standards, enhances product safety, and strengthens market competitiveness," Hatyoka explained.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, ZCSA sponsored the 1st National Tennis Championship, held at Ndola Tennis Club from October 2–5.

Hatyoka noted that the tournament provided a platform to educate the public on ZCSA’s mandate and to promote the purchase of products from regulated outlets.

He also highlighted the dangers posed by unregulated alcoholic beverages and spirits, stressing the Agency’s role in protecting society. Zambia Tennis Association President Lighton Musonda and Men’s Singles winner Edgar Kazembe lauded ZCSA’s support, noting its positive impact on youth development and substance abuse prevention.

Established under the Compulsory Standards Act No. 3 of 2017, ZCSA is mandated to enforce standards that safeguard public safety, consumer interests, and the environment.
