Lusaka, Zambia24  - (4 - June 2025) – The Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) has declared the 2025 Zambia Travel Expo (ZATEX) a strategic game-changer for positioning Zambia as a must-visit destination on the global travel map—while unlocking new economic frontiers for local small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

ZTA Manager – Communication and Corporate Affairs, Hildah Mwape, announced that the three-day expo—set for June 5 to 7 in Lusaka—will spotlight Zambia’s exceptional tourism offerings to international travel buyers, decision-makers, and consumers.

“ZATEX 2025 is more than an expo—it’s a high-impact platform for promoting Zambia’s rich cultural heritage, breathtaking natural wonders, and authentic local experiences,” Mwape said.

“This is a springboard for SMEs to access global tourism markets and raise the profile of homegrown tourism products.”

She emphasized that, beyond showcasing iconic landmarks like Victoria Falls, South Luangwa National Park, and Lake Tanganyika, ZATEX will shine a light on underexposed destinations brimming with untapped potential.

ZTA Chief Executive Officer Matongo Matamwandi revealed that over 1,500 delegates, including 28 influential hosted buyers from priority markets such as Spain, the UK, Poland, South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, and Zimbabwe, will participate.

These buyers will hold targeted business-to-business (B2B) meetings with more than 50 Zambian tourism operators.

“This is Zambia’s moment to present itself as a competitive, authentic, and sustainable destination,” Matamwandi stated.

“ZATEX 2025 is not just about landscapes—it’s about people, passion, and potential.”

He stressed that the expo’s theme, Sustainable Tourism: Driving Inclusive Growth, captures Zambia’s commitment to empowering communities and preserving the environment through tourism.

“From traditional crafts to culinary delights and immersive rural tours, ZATEX will amplify voices and experiences that represent the true spirit of Zambia,” he said.

The expo will unfold in two phases: the first two days will feature exclusive B2B networking, investment pitches, and tourism knowledge-sharing forums, while the final day will open to the public—creating a powerful push for domestic tourism.

Mwape underscored the importance of local participation.

“Zambians must be active tourists in their own country. The third day of ZATEX is designed to connect citizens with local tourism operators and inspire national pride in what Zambia has to offer,” she said.

ZTA, working in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Council of Zambia (TCZ), has issued an open invitation to investors, marketers, creatives, and the public to be part of ZATEX 2025 and help drive Zambia’s tourism revolution.
