Cervical Cancer

TAUZ Students Take Action

Lusaka, Zambia –  (10-02-2025) - Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) students are taking a stand against cervical cancer through an awareness campaign at Kamulanga Secondary School in Jack Compound, Lusaka.

The initiative aimed to educate young girls and women on prevention, early detection, and the importance of regular screenings.

The campaign featured poetry, sketches, and interactive performances, making the message both engaging and impactful.

Professional health personnel were also present to provide expert guidance, while women from the surrounding community joined the discussions to broaden the campaign’s reach.

TAUZ lecturer Ms. Niza Rean, who led the team, stressed the urgency of cervical cancer awareness.

"Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet it continues to claim many lives due to lack of information and access to screening.

As future healthcare professionals, our students are playing a crucial role in educating young girls and women about early detection and prevention.

Through initiatives like this, we hope to encourage more people to take charge of their health and seek medical advice when necessary," she said.

She encouraged the pupils to share their newfound knowledge with family and friends, emphasizing that spreading awareness is key to combating the disease.

With Zambia facing high cervical cancer prevalence, such grassroots initiatives are essential in equipping communities with life-saving information.

TAUZ students and faculty have pledged to continue similar programs, reaffirming their commitment to health education and preventive care.
