Lusaka, Zambia –  (December 6, 2024) - Greenshield Security Services Limited has donated vital medical equipment to the Physiotherapy Department at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital, addressing a critical shortage of supplies and strengthening the Zambia-China partnership.

Tracy Li, the spokesperson for Greenshield Security, highlighted the hospital’s struggle to meet the growing demand for patient care.

In response, Greenshield’s Chairman, Mr. Wang, facilitated the swift procurement and delivery of essential supplies through the company’s logistics network.

"This collaboration with the Chinese Medical Team underscores the strong friendship between Zambia and China," Li noted.

The timing of the donation coincides with the 60th anniversary of Zambia-China diplomatic relations, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation in addressing national challenges.

According to Loise Mwenya Katekwe, a Principal Physiotherapist, the Physiotherapy Department at Levy Mwanawasa  experienced a significant rise in patient visits, from just a few to as many as 15 daily.

Dr. Katekwe said during the donation that the department focuses on treating chronic pain, mental health issues, neurological conditions, and reproductive health concerns.

Despite its success, Dr. Katekwe suggested, the department faces resource challenges.

She expressed gratitude for Greenshield Security’s donation, emphasizing its importance in sustaining operations.

She also called for continued support from other organizations to meet growing demand patient care.

"Without additional resources, we risk compromising the quality of care," Katekwe warned.

And John Zulu, a beneficiary of the department’s services, shared his transformative experience.

Diagnosed with a condition that left him immobile, Zulu said he regained the ability to stand and speak after treatment.

He urged for continued support to help others in need, emphasizing the lasting impact of these healthcare programs.

Zulu’s testimony highlights the importance of investing in human development through consistent healthcare interventions.

He underscores the need for policymakers to prioritize the sustainability of such programs, which not only aid in recovery but also contribute to a healthier, more resilient society.
