Several prominent figures from Africa's business sector have been shortlisted for the 2024 Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE).

Each leader has demonstrated a commitment to integrating health, safety, and environmental standards into their business operations.
Da-silva noted, “These individuals have demonstrated exceptional leadership in integrating health, safety, and environmental standards into their operations.”
This acknowledgment comes as businesses across Africa are increasingly pressured to adopt sustainable practices that protect both their workforce and the environment.
The 2024 AfriSAFE Awards ceremony will take place in Livingstone, Zambia, from November 7 to 8, with Zambia Sugar as the headline sponsor.
This year’s event will also feature the AfriSAFE Congress, themed “Collaborating Beyond Borders for a Safer and Sustainable Africa,” highlighting the need for collective efforts to enhance workplace safety across the continent.
Organizations like MTN Nigeria, Seplat Energy, and Lucara Diamond Botswana are also recognized for their outstanding safety and sustainability practices.
Their inclusion illustrates a growing trend of corporate entities aligning their strategies with global safety and environmental standards.
A free first-aid and emergency response training for artisans will be held on October 22 in Lusaka, aimed at equipping local workers with essential skills to improve safety awareness and emergency preparedness.
Backed by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Zambia’s Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the AfriSAFE Awards remain Africa’s premier platform for recognizing excellence in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
The commitment demonstrated by these leaders and their organizations serves as a call to action for all businesses in Africa to prioritize health, safety, and environmental practices.
As the event approaches, it is imperative that the dialogue surrounding workplace safety continues, encouraging collaboration and innovative solutions to create safer work environments for all.
