Texila Students Raise Cancer Awareness

Lusaka, Zambia24 – (6-11-2024) - Medical students from Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) held a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in Lusaka’s Lilayi and Chalala areas, promoting early detection through screenings and self-examinations.

The campaign featured a march along Lilayi Road, with students displaying placards about breast cancer prevention. They engaged residents on the importance of recognizing symptoms and seeking prompt medical advice.

“It’s inspiring to see our students take on this initiative,” said TAUZ lecturer Ms. Niza Rean, who joined the students. “Their dedication to educating the community shows their commitment to impactful healthcare.”

Residents appreciated the students' efforts, with one attendee saying they felt more informed about early detection.

The campaign supports wider efforts to combat breast cancer in Zambia, where limited awareness often leads to late diagnoses.
